Leela Art Club

sampada-pic-1.png

Every interaction with art helps the mind to grow and transform. That is the power of art – to transform, to give expression to ideas and emotions, and to heighten awareness of our surroundings. This belief in the transformative power of art is at the core of the Leela Art Club.

For anyone open to the experience of art, the Leela Foundation invites you to the Leela Art Club to experience different visual arts forms though three-session modules. The Art Club is an ongoing initiative in collaboration with Ansimit by Sampada to establish a group of art makers to encourage creative engagement in the community.

Sampada Agarwal has spent more than 15 years exploring traditional Indian folk and tribal arts. Her wide repertoire includes Warli, Madhubani, Gond, Phad, Pattachitra, Kolam, Calligraphy, and more. Being a Certified Zentangle teacher since 2012 has led to new collaborations with students and artists around the globe. She is commissioned by the Downtown Durham Inc. to create a Warli Mural for the Public Space Project 2020.

The Leela Art Club is open to all. It meets every Friday, from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm EST.
The different Folk Art offered are: Warli, Madhubani, Gond, Phad, Pattachitra, Kolam, Calligraphy, and more.
